Overview
Before having CEC-Onsite System, Construction workers at CEC had mainly employed traditional methods of using paper to record their construction process. The working environment of construction workers is humid and muddy. Therefore, all the paperwork will be wet and soft when they are filling the form. The only equipment that will prevent this situation is using the phone to record these quality checking details.
Due to NDA, I’m not allowed to reveal complete design processes and deliverables. All the data is redacted and blurred and would be used for portfolio building only.
Impact
Planning and designing the biggest construction corporation in Taiwan for digital transformation, the system created over 89% of construction projects that have already used the app and website, and this increased by 45% work efficiency.

01 Challenges
Original Checking Process
Step 1: Take Pictures through phone
Construction workers take pictures when they check items.
Step 2: Fill in paper forms
Construction workers fill in forms and match pictures they have taken.
Step 3: Pass the standard or not
Construction managers and department of quality control decide if this item pass the standard or not and decide if it need to be iterate.
02 Problems
Items that didn't pass the standard can't be awarded immediately.
Before using concrete and stainless steel provided by suppliers, construction workers had to take a sample and run tests. But headquarter of quality department wouldn’t know immediately.
03 Design Questions
→ How we can design a system that can use in different scenarios, not just for typing in the office, but also let construction workers can check all the items when they are on-site?
→ How we can think of connection issues when they are in the construction site and encourage construction workers use phone to document checked items?
→ How we can make sure all the information can be type printed in to A4 size paper and be signed by all the supervisor online?

Before
All the documents are printed and stored in the office due to some of the documents need to be printed and mailed to the government.

For construction workers, they can simply use app to fill in self-inspection checklist to take pictures and at the same time.

For quality control department, they can through website to check all the construction project and approved all the requested and signed it when you approved it.

Self-check Inspection List
→ Breaking paper form information into different sections and create photo features to let users sync all the data at the same time
Trend Analysis
→ Collect all the information into the platforma but still display as a paper form for printing.
